The Villa Lindenhof – a cultural center for Blaustein. The Villa Lindenhof is a listed Art Nouveau villa, built at the beginning of the 20th century by the Munich architect Richard Riemerschmid as a summer retreat for the industrialist Max Robert Wieland. The Villa Lindenhof is located in Blaustein-Herrlingen and is set to receive a new direction as a cultural center for the city of Blaustein.

The Villa Lindenhof is a gem and the most representative building among all the Herrlingen villas. In this picturesque location, several wealthy Ulm manufacturers built their summer houses around 1900. The Lindenhof belonged to the Wieland family, designed by the famous Munich architect Riemerschmid. The magnificent house in Art Nouveau style reflects the prosperity culture of the upper classes at that time. The architecture is characterized by elegant facade design, generous room layout, and the use of high-quality materials. It combines elements of Art Nouveau with hints of the reform architecture of the Bauhaus. Today, it serves as a cultural center and small museum. Herrlingen has a significant historical heritage that is honored here. You need to make an appointment by phone for a visit! But even without the museum, the Lindenhof is worth seeing! The villa is located in a cosmopolitan park with a pond. The interesting overall ensemble includes the service rooms. The area is very pleasant to walk to from the train station.

The Art Nouveau Villa Lindenhof with its large park was designed in 1904 by the well-known architect Riemerschmid, completed in 1906 with attached kitchen building, bowling alley, gatehouse, and stable. In 1945, a school was established in the Lindenhof. Between 1989 and 2018, the villa housed a museum about Field Marshal Rommel.

An impressive building in a beautiful location from the outside. Unfortunately, we couldn't see the newly conceived exhibition where Erwin Rommel is no longer the focus, as the house is closed. Since mid-last year, the Rommel exhibition has ended because they don't want militarists gathering there. Rather, the entire history of the house is to be presented. For Rommel enthusiasts, there is still a memorial stone nearby at the place where he took the poison at the behest of the 'Führer'.
