Kreismustergarten Weißenhorn | Opening Hours & Tours
The Kreismustergarten Weißenhorn is one of those excursion destinations that may seem simple at first glance but reveal surprising versatility upon closer inspection. The official city page categorizes it as a nature and leisure offering, while the district of Neu-Ulm describes it as a garden facility established in 1987, located west of Weißenhorn, covering an area of nearly 9,000 square meters. Those coming from Weißenhorn, Neu-Ulm, or the surrounding area will find here not a staged event location, but a vibrant demonstration garden that shows how diverse a nature-oriented garden can be. This makes it particularly interesting for walks, educational visits, and quiet family outings. The combination of constant access, free tours upon request, and a clearly recognizable garden structure ensures that a simple search query quickly turns into a concrete excursion tip. Opening Hours of the Kreismustergarten in Weißenhorn
Those looking for the opening hours of the Kreismustergarten will find a pleasantly simple answer: The garden is open around the clock. This openness distinguishes it from many classic visitor attractions with ticket times, fixed entry windows, or limited visiting blocks. In the case of the Kreismustergarten, it is not the time of day that matters, but rather the weather, the season, and one’s own desire for nature. This makes the facility particularly attractive for those who enjoy being spontaneous. A quick visit in the morning is just as possible as a leisurely walk in the evening or a planned family outing on the weekend. The official description additionally points out that the facility has been in existence since 1987. Thus, the Kreismustergarten has a long history as a publicly accessible garden space, created not for a one-time effect but for the ongoing exchange between people, nature, and practical gardening ideas. ([weissenhorn.de](https://www.weissenhorn.de/tourismus-und-freizeit/sport-und-erholung/ausfluege-in-die-natur/kreismustergarten-weissenhorn))
For planning, it is especially important to note that the Kreismustergarten is not a rigid appointment location with program switches, but an open place clearly oriented towards relaxation and observation. This means in practice: Those who want to see the facility do not have to wait for a seasonal opening but can come by all year round. This is a significant advantage for people living in Weißenhorn or traveling from Neu-Ulm, Krumbach, or the closer district area. The visit can easily be integrated into a shopping spree, a city walk, or a small nature outing. This is also important for search queries with the addition of opening hours, as it is not the classic opening time of a building that counts, but the permanent access to an outdoor facility. This is a clear signal for flexible visitor planning and a distinct plus for spontaneous garden enthusiasts. ([weissenhorn.de](https://www.weissenhorn.de/tourismus-und-freizeit/sport-und-erholung/ausfluege-in-die-natur/kreismustergarten-weissenhorn))
Tours for Groups of 10 or More: Learning in the Garden
A particularly strong feature of the Kreismustergarten is the free tours. According to the official tourism information, they are available upon request for groups of 10 or more and last about 1 to 1.5 hours. This is especially interesting for groups, clubs, school classes, or kindergarten groups, as the garden functions not only as a beautiful backdrop but also as a learning place. The tour is not limited to mere observation but conveys concrete content related to nature-oriented garden design. This is precisely why the Kreismustergarten fits so well with search terms like tours, school classes, children, or garden. It is not just a place to linger but a place where one can take away ideas that can be applied in one’s own garden or in teaching. ([landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de](https://www.landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de/poi/fuehrung-weissenhorn-kreismustergarten))
The content focus of the tour is practical and easily understandable: How can one design one’s own garden paradise in a nature-oriented way? Which fruit and vegetable varieties are robust and productive? How can plant diseases and pests be avoided? And how does one harmoniously combine flowering plants? These topics make the difference between a mere green space and a true demonstration garden. Particularly valuable is the fact that the Kreismustergarten is explicitly described as a learning site for nature experiences. Through the mix of flowering and fruiting plants, food for bees and other beneficial insects, and illustrative garden areas, knowledge is not conveyed abstractly but made directly experienceable. So, those who gather a group not only get a walk but a short, intensive nature seminar in the open air. ([landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de](https://www.landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de/poi/fuehrung-weissenhorn-kreismustergarten))
Roses, Cottage Garden, Perennials, Pond, Fruits, and Vegetables
The content strength of the Kreismustergarten lies in its diversity. The official description mentions several clearly distinguishable areas: roses, cottage garden, perennials, summer flowers, pond, as well as fruits and vegetables. This structure is particularly pleasant for visitors because it does not make the garden seem like a diffuse green space but rather like a series of meaningfully arranged experience areas. Upon entering the garden, one can wander from area to area and experience different plant worlds, colors, and garden moods. This makes the Kreismustergarten interesting for people who are interested in plant combinations, natural design, or small-scale self-sufficiency. Additionally, there is a beehive that enhances the experience value and simultaneously makes the importance of pollinators in the garden visible. The tourism page also emphasizes that the garden attracts numerous groups from spring to autumn, thus unfolding its full effect particularly during the growing season. ([landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de](https://www.landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de/poi/fuehrung-weissenhorn-kreismustergarten))
This diversity is not only beautiful to look at but also pedagogically valuable. A cottage garden demonstrates different principles than a perennial area, the pond introduces another microclimate, and fruits and vegetables make visible how closely ornamental value and utility can go together in the garden. This is precisely the appeal of a demonstration garden: It not only explains how a garden can look but also why certain areas work together. Visitors thus receive not abstract theory but a tangible practical area that can be found in their everyday lives. The official imagery also supports this impression, as the pages of the city and tourism provider use garden and aerial shots that clearly show the layout of the facility. Therefore, those who want to inform themselves in advance can already get a realistic impression online of how differently the Kreismustergarten is structured. ([weissenhorn.de](https://www.weissenhorn.de/tourismus-und-freizeit/sport-und-erholung/ausfluege-in-die-natur/kreismustergarten-weissenhorn))
Directions to Ulmer Straße 31 and Parking
The official address is Ulmer Straße 31 in 89264 Weißenhorn. This clearly assigns the location, and the tourism page adds that the Kreismustergarten is located west of Weißenhorn. It is also important for travel that the tourism page explicitly offers access via public transport and refers to DING. Additionally, a municipal overview shows a stop Kreismustergarten towards the city center, which makes orientation on-site easier. Therefore, those who wish to travel by bus or train have a clear starting point for planning. This is a practical advantage, especially for visitors without a car or for groups organizing an outing. Combined with its location in the Neu-Ulm district, the garden becomes easily accessible for Weißenhorn, Neu-Ulm, and the surrounding towns. ([landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de](https://www.landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de/poi/fuehrung-weissenhorn-kreismustergarten))
There are also useful pointers regarding parking. The city of Weißenhorn provides a general parking overview for the urban area and lists several parking spaces, including downtown, theater, outdoor pool, Jägerweg, forest cemetery, Fuggerhalle, as well as South and North train stations. For the Kreismustergarten itself, a municipal publication also states that parking spaces are available. While this is not an exact parking map directly on-site, it is a reliable indication that access by car is generally feasible. Therefore, those who want to plan the route carefully should distinguish between two levels: first, the journey to Ulmer Straße 31, and second, the choice of a suitable parking space in the Weißenhorn network. This makes the visit relaxed, especially if one wants to combine the garden with a city stroll or another appointment in Weißenhorn. ([weissenhorn.de](https://www.weissenhorn.de/unsere-stadt/lernen-sie-uns-kennen/parken))
Photos, Reviews, and Regional Search
When searching for photos, the Kreismustergarten is particularly grateful because the official pages themselves use image material. On the city page, there is an aerial view of the garden, and the tourism page shows several motifs from the garden area. This is helpful for visitors who want to get an idea in advance and also supports orientation, as one can better understand the spatial layout before the visit. Therefore, those looking for photos should not only think of social media but first open the official sources, as the garden structure and the various sections become directly visible there. This also fits the character of the facility: It thrives on the mix of overview and richness of detail, which often comes across particularly well in images. ([weissenhorn.de](https://www.weissenhorn.de/tourismus-und-freizeit/sport-und-erholung/ausfluege-in-die-natur/kreismustergarten-weissenhorn))
In terms of reviews, it is noticeable that the data you provided shows a very good response: 4.7 out of 5 stars from 74 reviews. This aligns with the profile of the Kreismustergarten as a quiet, freely accessible, and simultaneously educational place. For regional searches, it is also interesting that besides Weißenhorn, Neu-Ulm and Krumbach also appear as search terms. This indicates that the garden is perceived not only as a local destination but also as an excursion spot for the entire surrounding area. In practice, this means that those coming from the Neu-Ulm area or from the direction of Krumbach find here a nearby destination that does not require extensive planning yet still offers clear experiential value. The combination of proximity, permanent access, and garden diversity explains why the demand is so widely spread. ([weissenhorn.de](https://www.weissenhorn.de/tourismus-und-freizeit/sport-und-erholung/ausfluege-in-die-natur/kreismustergarten-weissenhorn))
Practical Tips for Visiting with Family, School, or Group
The Kreismustergarten is particularly well-suited for visitors who want more than just a quick glance at the greenery. The best time to visit is, for obvious reasons, between spring and autumn, as this is the period during which the official tourism page describes the highest group frequency and the most visible garden impressions. When roses, perennials, summer flowers, fruits, and vegetables all unfold their effects simultaneously, the demonstration garden is most illustrative. Families benefit from this just as much as school classes or senior groups, as the garden can be explored without haste. The official suitability for groups, school classes, and seniors is therefore not just an additional detail but a real indication of the practical usability of the place. Those planning a visit should ideally bring enough time for a leisurely stroll and consider the garden not just as a stopover but as a standalone destination. ([landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de](https://www.landkreis.neu-ulm-tourismus.de/poi/fuehrung-weissenhorn-kreismustergarten))
It is particularly sensible to combine the visit with other Weißenhorn destinations. Since the Kreismustergarten is located west of the city and the access to the city is well documented, the day can be easily combined with a walk through Weißenhorn, a café visit, or another nature experience. Groups wishing to book a tour should inquire early enough so that everything can be smoothly organized for groups of 10 or more. Even those who come without a tour benefit from the open structure of the garden, the images from the official pages, and the clear orientation towards natural themes. Thus, a simple search for Kreismustergarten Weißenhorn becomes not just a location entry but a real planning aid for a relaxed, informative, and nature-oriented outing.
I was here in November. A lot had already been cleared and trimmed, but I could still see how much love and effort went into this place.

An interesting educational place for kids and adults. The garden has many bee-friendly plants. You can see wild bee habitats and a beehive. There’s a rock garden with alpine plants. All the plants are carefully labeled. I had a lovely time. There’s parking next to the garden and a bus stop is nearby. Visiting the garden is free.

Wonderful garden created with a lot of work and joy. Many different fruit trees and great flowers. I especially love the alpine garden and the houses for bees and hoverflies.

Wonderful garden - designed with great attention to detail! Great flower beds, everything well labeled - the gardener who takes care of the place is also very friendly!
