This theater shaped the Ulm cultural landscape for decades. The article mentions the historical theater activities, the high ceiling, chandeliers, and the old parquet. The gastronomic use has changed the space, but the architectural peculiarities remain part of the impression that guests experience during their visit.

This backstory makes the address more interesting than a random café location. Today, the focus is no longer on theater operations but on coffee, cuisine, and encounters. Nevertheless, the spatial effect remains: the high ceilings and historical elements create a framework that reminds of the cultural past of the house. For visitors interested in Ulm's city history, the stay can therefore be connected with a look at the development of the building.

As a gastronomic operation, the café covers several usage occasions. In the morning, it is a place for breakfast and coffee. At lunchtime, it is suitable for a break or a meeting. It is also interesting for visitors on a day trip to Ulm. The proximity to the Minster and the city center makes it easy to combine a visit with sights, shopping, or a walk. After a visit, the café can serve as a quiet point without having to cover a long distance. The address is centrally located but feels somewhat shielded due to the alley compared to many cafés in large squares.

Professionals and students can utilize Wi-Fi and the longer opening hours. For focused work, occupancy is crucial, so quieter times are more suitable than busy weekend hours. For business conversations, the mix of café and restaurant provides an informal setting. Those needing privacy or a larger table should coordinate this in advance with the team.

According to the tourism entry, dogs are allowed in the house. For barrier-free use, guests should inquire in advance, as a review portal lists the venue as not wheelchair accessible. For individual needs, direct information from the operation is more reliable than general platform information.

However, the most important feature remains the atmosphere. Café Gustaff combines historic architecture with modern gastronomic use and a location in the middle of Ulm. It is not a large event hall or a pure breakfast chain but a café and restaurant with several times of the day, terrace, and evening offerings. Those looking for a characterful address will find a place where interior, history, food, and city center location interact. For photos, a quiet conversation, a meal, or a longer stay, the café offers various possibilities.

Who Should Particularly Visit Café Gustaff Ulm

Café Gustaff is a suitable address for anyone looking for a central place with a pronounced ambiance. Coffee lovers will find an offering with coffee from Trieste and various classic coffee drinks. Guests who enjoy breakfast can start their morning in a historic interior. Those who prefer cake will find, according to numerous guest voices, a selection that fits a typical café visit. The terrace is ideal for the afternoon if the weather permits and seats are available.

Couples and friend groups benefit from the combination of drinks, food, and evening opening. From Wednesday to Saturday, the visit can be extended from coffee in the afternoon to dinner or cocktails in the evening. The cuisine is Italian-oriented and is complemented by breakfast, lunch menu, vegetarian dishes, cakes, and various drinks. This makes the café more flexible than a pure coffee house without losing the character of a cozy meeting point.

For families and larger groups, a reservation request is advisable, as the number of seats in the interior is limited and the terrace is used seasonally. Those with special requests should communicate them early. Café Gustaff is thus suitable for both spontaneous and planned visits. It is essential to check the current opening hours, available cuisine, and desired seating situation in advance. This way, the special atmosphere of Herrenkellergasse can be combined with a suitable gastronomic occasion.

Gustaff has always been a place for me to unwind, great drinks, beautiful atmosphere, and that special vibe. It totally reminds me of the cafés and restaurants in Williamsburg, stylish, relaxed, and urban. Recently, I discovered they have a burger special on Wednesdays, so of course, I had to give it a try. The service, as always, was super friendly. We ordered the Classic Burger and the Gustaff Burger, mine without bacon. I know, for some people bacon is a must, but as a Muslim, and since there wasn’t an alternative made from beef or poultry, I just left it out. Still, both burgers looked fantastic and tasted great. The brioche bun was soft and delicious, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. There was one thing I noticed though: the burger came with a lot of arugula, which wasn’t listed on the menu. The taste of the arugula was quite strong, a bit too much for my preference, and it slightly overpowered the meat. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a very good burger, and I’ll definitely be coming back! But next time, I’ll order the Gustaff Burger without the arugula, to better enjoy the flavor of the patty.

Great coffee and a fantastic atmosphere. They expanded the options to include bringing your PC, making it a perfect spot to work remotely.

Not a bad spot for a quick lunch. Food was not something out of this world but not bad. Does not have an option to pay by card, so that was not very convenient.
