CASSANDRA: When a warning voice is finally heard
On November 25, 2026, the Equal Opportunities Office of the Neu-Ulm district invites you to a special theater evening at the Weißenhorn City Hall. The Turmalin Theatre presents the authorized stage adaptation of Christa Wolf's narrative CASSANDRA – in line with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
A Seeress between Truth and Power
At the center is Cassandra, Trojan princess and seeress. She recognizes the impending catastrophe, warns against the Trojan Horse, and simultaneously experiences how political power, exclusion, and patriarchal structures devalue her voice. The monologue depicts the events before and during the Trojan War consistently from the perspective of a woman who sees what others repress.
Concentrated Acting and Gripping Dramaturgy
Cornelia Gutermann-Bauer embodies Cassandra in a roughly 80-minute one-woman play. Günter Bauer's staging condenses Christa Wolf's literary source into an intense theatrical experience. The direction combines language, body work, and light to create a theatrical atmosphere in which memory, fear, and resistance confront each other directly.
Light as a Spiritual Resonance Space
The lighting direction accompanies Cassandra's emotional movements and grants the stage shifting states: threat, realization, isolation, and inner strength. This results in a reduced yet sensually charged stage design, where every pause, every glance, and every word holds dramatic weight.
Theater in the Sign of the International Day Against Violence Against Women
The evening opens the view on violence, enemy images, societal exclusion, and the courage to resist. Starting at 6:00 PM, social institutions of the Round Table on Sexualized Violence will provide information in the foyer about counseling, support, and assistance. A small snack and drinks complement the event offering.
An Evening for Attention and Stance
CASSANDRA connects literary stage art with a clear societal perspective. The audience experiences not an ancient figure behind glass, but a clairvoyant woman whose questions reach into the present: Whom is believed? Which warnings fall on deaf ears? And what price does a society pay when it does not want to hear critical voices?
This stage experience promises concentrated acting, precise staging, and an atmosphere that resonates beyond the final applause. Those who understand theater as a place of insight, empathy, and engagement will find an evening of particular urgency in Weißenhorn.
