Festive Service and Monastery Festival for the 900th Anniversary
A special day of faith, music, and encounters awaits visitors on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Roggenburg Monastery. The festive service in the Monastery Church of the Assumption of Mary combines spiritual tradition, communal prayer, and the living spirituality of the Premonstratensian community with an open monastery festival for the whole family.
Festive Liturgy in the Roggenburg Monastery Church
The festive service begins at 11 a.m. The service will be led by Augsburg's diocesan bishop Dr. Bertram Meier. Also present are General Abbot Dr. h.c. Jos Wouters and Abbot Petrus-Adrian Lerchenmüller. The celebration is dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the Roggenburg Monastery and makes the long spiritual history of the place as a center of faith, education, and encounters tangible.
Music as an Expression of Shared Spirituality
A festive musical arrangement gives the service special depth. The choir of the Roggenburg Monastery Church will perform together with singers from the Biberach church choir and the Abteichor Windberg. The interplay of liturgy, song, and church space creates an impressive religious experience that connects tranquility, reflection, and fellowship.
Monastery Festival in the Prelate's Courtyard
From around 12:30 p.m., the subsequent monastery festival in the Prelate's Courtyard invites guests to linger and exchange ideas. The music clubs of the Roggenburg community will provide a concert. The monastery inn will cater to the attendees, while Roggenburg anniversary wines will be offered for tasting. The open festival creates space for conversations, encounters, and a shared faith experience beyond the service celebration.
Family Program and Church Tour
Families are also warmly welcomed. The educational center offers a children's program and makes the anniversary day accessible for different generations. At 2 p.m., there will be a church tour with a small organ performance. This provides a unique perspective on the sacred space, its history, and its significance for monastic spirituality.
A Day for Faith, Culture, and Community
The festive service with the monastery festival connects Catholic liturgy, Premonstratensian tradition, spiritual music, and regional festival culture. Participation in the service and the monastery festival is possible without registration and free of charge. All believers, families, and interested individuals are invited to experience this highlight of the anniversary year together live.
Look forward to a worthy celebration, powerful choral music, encounters in the Prelate's Courtyard, and the special atmosphere of the Roggenburg Monastery. Experience the anniversary day as a spiritual community and as a living sign of a 900-year-old faith tradition.
