TEXTILE STORIES: When common stories arise from fabrics

The participatory exhibition TEXTILE STORIES invites you to an immersive experience with textiles, design, and sustainable culture on October 18, 2026, at NEUE 8 in Ulm. The focus is on collaborative creative work with donated and discarded textiles.

Textiles as an artistic medium

Fabrics carry memories, traces of use, and personal stories. In TEXTILE STORIES, textile materials are removed from their original context and re-evaluated as independent design tools. Colors, patterns, surfaces, and textile structures merge into a collectively developed installation.

Upcycling as an aesthetic experience

The exhibition connects cultural education with sustainable design. From used materials emerges a textile world that visitors can not only observe but actively participate in creating. Upcycling is experienced as an artistic process: material awareness, imagination, and practical experimentation lead to new forms.

Tapestry workshop with Silke Debler

A special program highlight is the upcycling workshop with Silke Debler. From various materials, participants will create their own small tapestry with a string of lights. The format is aimed at children from the age of five and adults, requires no prior knowledge, and combines the study of artworks with practical design.

Co-create, think sustainably

The exhibition atmosphere at NEUE 8 opens an open space for encounters, exchange, and creative participation. TEXTILE STORIES makes visible how seemingly inconspicuous fabric remnants can become a poetic installation and a shared art experience.

TEXTILE STORIES awaits visitors as a vibrant connection of exhibition, crafts, upcycling, and cultural education. Anyone who wants to see textile materials in a new light and engage creatively should experience this unique art experience live at NEUE 8.
