Experience literary criticism live: The SWR Best List comes to Ulm for the first time
On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the Schuhhaussaal in the Kunstverein Ulm will be the meeting point for everyone who wants to not only read current literature but also discuss it. The SWR Best List live combines stage atmosphere, well-founded literary criticism, and personal insights into selected books.
30 critics, ten books, one ranking
The SWR Best List is formed from the voices of 30 literary critics who evaluate ten outstanding books every month. In Ulm, this format will be experienced as a live event: The literary critics Cornelia Geissler, Martin Ebel, and Klaus Nüchtern will discuss current titles and assess their literary quality expertly.
Live discussion, readings, and moderation
The program includes a moderated live discussion and readings by the announced contributors. This creates a concentrated concert experience for the mind: voices, texts, and pointed evaluations meet the immediate audience mood in the historical setting of the Kunstverein.
Literary criticism with radio atmosphere
The event is also conceived as a radio recording. This gives the evening a special tension: every comment carries weight, arguments are articulated precisely, and literary themes unfold in direct exchange. Between analysis, reading, and conversation, a lively view of contemporary literature emerges.
An evening for curious readers
Whether a regular guest of SWR culture formats or a curious entry into the world of literary criticism: The SWR Best List live offers orientation in the current book year and invites exploration of new authors and literary perspectives.
Anyone who wants to experience literature with atmosphere, professional depth, and immediate stage energy should not miss this evening at the Kunstverein Ulm. Secure your ticket and experience the SWR Best List live in Ulm for the first time.
