SWR1 Pop & Poetry brings Viva la Vida to Ulm

On Friday, November 6, 2026, the Congress Centrum Ulm will transform into a stage for great pop moments, literary nuances, and surprising perspectives. SWR1 Pop & Poetry in Concert presents the new program Viva la Vida, combining live music, acting, translation, and moderation into a unique concert experience.

The greatest hits with new words

At the center are well-known songs from pop history, whose lyrics receive an additional emotional layer in German translation. Actors present the content pointedly, while singers and musicians interpret the pieces live. This creates a mix of concert, reading, comedy, and show that combines musical familiarity with fresh perspectives.

From Coldplay to Lady Gaga

Viva la Vida takes the title hit from Coldplay as a programmatic headline and celebrates life in its full diversity. The new show invites you to dance with David Bowie, laugh with Alanis Morissette about the irony of life, and experience Lady Gaga at the piano. Further surprises remain part of the live moment.

Live atmosphere with musical precision

The ensemble combines orchestration, synchronization, and stage performance into a varied sound. The songs do not appear as mere cover versions but as carefully crafted reinterpretations in the German language, with scenic effects and direct audience engagement. In the Congress Centrum Ulm, clear acoustics, concert lighting, and the audience's tense anticipation come together.

A success story since 2009

SWR1 Pop & Poetry in Concert has been around since 2009 and has established itself as a successful live show from SWR1 Baden-Württemberg. The concept makes audible how strongly pop music and language are interconnected: A familiar melody opens the space for new meanings, while the live band imparts energy and dynamics to the songs.

Conclusion: Pop history becomes a shared experience

The audience in Ulm can expect an evening filled with great melodies, surprising translations, humorous transitions, and emotional live moments. Those who want to not only hear pop classics but rediscover their stories will experience a versatile concert show with Viva la Vida at the Congress Centrum Ulm.
