When Poetry Becomes Music: Two Sisters at EinsteinHaus Ulm
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the Club Orange in the EinsteinHaus of the Ulm Adult Education Center transforms into a space for sound, language, and musical imagination. At the concert Two Sisters: Music and Poetry, composer Nikolaj Simon invites you to an evening where poetry recitation, singing, and individual compositions merge together.
A Dialogue Between Word and Sound
In the first part, poetry and music meet in a particularly direct way. Ulrike Miller gives voice and form to selected poems by well-known poets, while Nikolaj Simon musically captures the linguistic images. Rhythm, timbre, and emotional movement enter into an intense dialogue – subtle, focused, and full of atmospheric nuances.
Musical Portraits of Great Composers
The second part of the concert focuses on five influential figures in music history: Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. Nikolaj Simon has created a unique musical portrait in the corresponding style for each of these composers. His own arrangements and transcriptions of well-known works complement the program, providing an exciting perspective on historical sound languages from a contemporary viewpoint.
Composition, Singing, and Recitation at Club Orange
Alongside Nikolaj Simon, reciter Ulrike Miller and singer Kelly Cruz will participate. The combination of stage performance, singing, spoken word, and compositional design promises a multifaceted concert experience with shifting sound colors. The intimate atmosphere of Club Orange fosters closeness between the stage and the audience.
An Evening for Music Lovers and Curious Explorers
Nikolaj Simon is a musician, composer, music teacher, and lecturer at the vh Ulm for piano, guitar, and composition. As a member of the German Composers' Association, he combines musical expertise with the idea of making music an experience of limitless language.
The audience can expect a concert that bridges classical music history, new composition, and literary sound poetry. Those who wish to not only hear music but also experience it in its connection with language and emotion will find a special evening at Two Sisters: Music and Poetry at the EinsteinHaus Ulm.
