Clara Vetter Band brings contemporary jazz to Ulm
On Friday, November 6, 2026, Club Orange in EinsteinHaus Ulm will transform into a sound space for contemporary jazz. The Clara Vetter Band starts at 20:00 and combines impressionistic sound colors, new music, and improvised jazz into a multifaceted concert experience.
Between Impressionism, New Music, and Jazz
Clara Vetter creates a unique arc in her music between sensitive harmony, open improvisational spaces, and precise rhythmic design. Natural experiences and organic processes flow into colorful compositions, whose sound language appears both profound, fluid, and surprisingly direct.
The pianist and band leader studied jazz piano in Stuttgart and completed a performance master's degree at the Copenhagen Conservatory. For her artistic work, she has received, among other awards, the Steinway & Sons Promotion Award Stuttgart, the Federal Jazz Orchestra Composition Prize, and the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Prize 2023.
A Quartet with an International Jazz Profile
In Ulm, Clara Vetter will perform on the piano alongside Ronny Graupe on guitar, Phil Donkin on bass, and Fabian Arends on drums. Graupe was awarded the German Jazz Prize in the Guitar category in 2021. Together, the four musicians develop a transparent, dialogic sound between melodic nuances, angular harmony, and free movement.
The orchestration remains in constant motion: The piano sets sparkling accents and opens new harmonic spaces, the guitar expands the sound image with colorful lines, while the double bass and drums provide pulse, tension, and synchronization. It is in the interplay that the live atmosphere arises, where composed passages and spontaneous improvisation intertwine.
Music with Visual Imagination
Clara Vetter's musical language is closely linked to synesthetic perceptions. Sounds, chords, and tonalities appear to her as colors and shapes. This connection shapes her compositions and gives the stage performance a special sensory quality: Music is not only heard but experienced as movement, light, and inner landscape.
Her debut album Leading Impulse was released in 2020, followed by Live in Cologne and Fabulae. With various projects such as the Clara Vetter Collective and the Norwegian-German formation Letters From Nowhere, she is working on new forms of musical exchange.
A Close-to-the-Audience Concert Experience at Club Orange
Club Orange in EinsteinHaus provides the perfect setting for a concert that thrives on concentrated listening and immediate interplay. The free seating creates proximity to the stage and directs attention to the conducting of musical communication: small impulses, dynamic shifts, and the tension between fixed form and improvised moment.
The conclusion: The Clara Vetter Band promises an evening for all who want to experience contemporary jazz, demanding compositions, and an intense live atmosphere. Those who want to explore musical boundaries between Impressionism, New Music, and improvised jazz should experience this concert live in Ulm.
