Carmina Burana: Monumental Sound Power at Edwin-Scharff-Haus
The City Orchestra Memmingen presents Carl Orff's impressive Carmina Burana in Neu-Ulm. On Friday, April 16, 2027, a symphonic wind orchestra will unite with a project choir and soloists for an extraordinary concert project in the Great Hall of the Edwin-Scharff-Haus.
When Fate Sets the First Note
Even the first bars of O Fortuna unleash a force that goes straight to the skin. Orff’s scenic cantata works with striking rhythms, dramatic contrasts, and an expressive sound language. The program takes us through fate, love, zest for life, and the variable aspects of human existence.
Sonic Sound Meets Vocal Drama
The City Orchestra Memmingen is tackling one of the biggest projects in its history. The orchestration for the symphonic wind orchestra opens up a powerful, colorful sound perspective for the work. In conjunction with the project choir and soloists, a stage performance emerges, where precision, dynamics, and emotional intensity intertwine closely.
A Classic with Timeless Energy
Carmina Burana is based on medieval vagabond poetry from the 13th century and premiered in Frankfurt in 1937. Carl Orff's music combines catchy melodies with rhythmic immediacy and strong theatrical effect. This very mix has made the work a staple of international concert life to this day.
Live Atmosphere in the Great Hall
The concert introduction begins at 7:00 PM, with doors opening at 6:30 PM. At 8:00 PM, the musical curtain rises in the seated and easily accessible Great Hall. The audience can expect a sound-rich concert experience with monumental choral scenes, mystical moments, and contrasting orchestral colors.
